The Embassy of Portugal in Copenhagen welcomes you to a new official web page.
The links between Portugal and Denmark are quite old and documented at least since the 13th century. Both countries went out of their region very early and settled and traded with many parts of the world. In addition to the maritime tradition that we share, Portuguese and Danes have thus learned to know and be comfortable with other realities and cultures.
Today, we share structural links as partners in the European Union and allies in the North Atlantic Alliance. We both advocate international relations based on rules and principles and to that effect we are both committed members of the United Nations and are engaged in a number of European and other international organizations.
Both countries have made sustained and ambitious choices in renewable energy and we are therefore some of the strongest advocates of an ambitious European and international environmental agenda.
Through the Embassy’s action we hope to strengthen the ties between the two countries by promoting trade, investment and tourism; deepening cultural exchanges; continuing political cooperation; and by working with the Portuguese community who lives and works in Denmark.
Today, Portugal is a modern and innovative country, with major international companies and with universities and research institutions highly ranked internationally that are increasingly oriented to new technologies and research. About 700 Portuguese companies export to Denmark and nearly 300 Danish companies export to Portugal. Every year, the exchange of goods and services between the two countries approaches 1 billion Euros.
You can find on this page the political, economic, cultural and consular information which we hope will be useful to you. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need more information or if you have any questions or suggestions. All comments are welcome.
